Description
This project will improve current interior at the Marienville Ranger Station campus by upgrading existing fluorescent office ceiling lighting with LED closed-unit ceiling troffers in work areas with a higher occupancy rate e.g., offices and LED tubes in areas in lower occupancy rates, such as storerooms and field personnel office space typically occupied a couple hours daily. The contractor will replace GX23 bulbs currently installed in hallways with energy saving LED GX23 bulbs and in Black Cherry Conference room replace existing A19 incandescent with A19 dimmable LED bulbs. The troffers will be a 1:1 swap as will the 19 ea. A19 bulbs, 51 GX23 bulbs, and 116 ea. fluorescent tubes currently deployed. In addition to swapping these tubes, the ballast and starter circuitry will also be removed from each fixture. Remove aging ballasts and starters from the fluorescent system remaining in use to reduce potential for overheating resulting in electrical fire therefore improving occupancy safety and property value. Additionally, older fluorescent system ballasts contain a transformer and a capacitor. The capacitor contains a small amount of dielectric fluid, which in older lights may contain PCBs, a known carcinogen. Ballasts typically run hot ~ 140 degrees F, but as they age and begin to break down, they will get hotter. PCBs when heated may be released into the air posing a health hazard to occupants and fire fighters. 3. Provide increased emergency lighting in evacuation routes e.g., Hallways and Staircase, and add combination Exit Light and Emergency Light units in Mechanical Room and Main Hallway outside Stairwell indicating location of Exit door. Replace current recessed GX23 ceiling-mounted Emergency Lighting with wall-mounted units as illustrated in attached doc
