- Description
- **This description was amended and attachments were added on 26 SEP 2022** Multiple Aircraft Ammunition Loading System (MAALS) and Ammunition Transfer System (ATS),also known as a Replenisher, are military unique ammunition loading support equipment items that are used together to load 20MM ammunition onto aircraft. There are no commercial ammunition loaders in use by current civilian aircraft fleets. Only military aircraft utilize the M61A1/A2 20MM Gatling Gun to target the enemy.A prototype MAALS was tested and operated with the M61A1/A2 20MM Gatling Gun, which is used on the F-15, F-16, and F-22 aircraft. As part of this acquisition, the Government will have the option to procure level 3 and 3D modeling data for both the MAALS and the ATS. The data will allow for future competitive procurement and continued production of MAALS and ATS units after the term of the pending contract. The Government anticipates awarding a Firm-Fixed Price, Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity contract in Fiscal Year 2023. The period of performance will be 5 years in total, consisting of a two-year basic period, two 1-year ordering periods, and one option year. A primary objective of this effort is to update the Linkless Ammunition Loading System (LALS) into the MAALS. The LALS presently can load 20MM ammunition onto only the F-15 and F-16 aircraft but is required to also load the F-22 aircraft. Multi-Aircraft Ammunition Loading Assembly (MAALS) NSN 1730-01-671-2136, P/N 029999-10 Technical Aspects: Dimensions (maximum): 192.5 L X 63W X 37.5H Weight: 2,375 lb Operating Power: Pneumatic power Operating Power Source: Compressed air tank Number of Wheels: 4 Number of Axles: 2 Turning radius (maximum): 45 Technical Description: The Multi-Aircraft Ammunition Loading System, MAALS is a trailer-mounted Linkless Ammunition Loading System designed to load ammunition from shipping and storage containers into the F-15, F-16, and F-22 aircraft. It is capable of loading and unloading up to 2100 live or spent rounds of ammunitions from the aircraft gun system into ammunition shipping and storage containers simultaneously. The MAALS interfaces directly with the M61A1/A2 20MM Aircraft gun system via the Aircraft Interface Unit (AIU) and is driven by on-board pneumatic power system by means of a flexible drive shaft. The MAALS uses a linkless conveyor assembly mechanism which moves the rounds into the M61A1/A2 20MM aircraft gun storage container or back into the internal storage area of the MAALS. Logistics: Technical Order (TO) 35D2-19-1 Tools and Equipment as identified in the TO 35D2-19-1 The operation life span is 20 years, replacing the damaged part(s) may be necessary. Ammunition Transfer System (ATS) ATS NSN: 4925-01-612-9334, P/N 201757932-10 Technical Aspects: Dimensions (maximum): 79.4L X 30.7W X 39.3H Weight: 330 lbs. Operating Power: Manual or Pneumatic Operating Power Source: Compressed air tank Number of Wheels: 4 Technical Description: The 20 millimeter (mm) ammunition loading system replenisher assembly is used to transfer 20 mm, M-50 series ammunition from storage into the mobile loader assembly for transportation to the flight line. While performing this function, it simultaneously and independently receives spent cases and/or unfired ammunition from the loader assembly. The replenisher will function when supplied with either bulk (loose) or linked ammunition. It may be manually or pneumatically operated. When the pneumatic drive assembly is used, an external compressed air source is required. Logistics: Technical Order (TO) 35D30-4-11-1 Tools and Equipment as identified in the TO 35D30-4-11-1 The operation life span is 20 years, replacing the damaged part(s) may be necessary.
