Description
The Durham VA Medical Center located in Durham, North Carolina is issuing this source sought synopsis as a means of conducting market research to identify parties having an interest in and the resources to support this requirement to Correct Trash Chutes in Building 1 of the Medical Center. The results of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code assigned to this procurement is 236220 Commercial and Institutional Building Construction. BACKGROUND Building 1 of the Durham, NC Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) encompasses twelve occupied floors and supports most VA Medical and Administrative Services. There are two chutes, non-medical waste rubbish and dirty linen, that extend from the 10th Floor and discharges to the Ground Floor in BLDG 1. Rubbish and dirty linen are consolidated on the Ground Floor before being transported to the processing locations. Operational and Fire Code deficiencies have been annotated in recent Joint Commission inspections and from discussions with the EMS Service. The intent of this project is to fix the below deficiencies: Fire code compliance issues to include: Penetrations through fire rated walls Non-rated construction materials on fire rated walls Installation of assorted wall protection features to include cladding, door stops, corner and wall guards. Modify existing electrical components that are not rated for a wet location. Replacement of all rated chute doors and closure devices and installation of chute door safety system. Replacement of all ceiling grid tiles and suspension system Renovation of the floor covering and floor drainage system to ensure positive drainage from the space. Modification of existing domestic water and installation of new hose bib. THERE IS NO SOLICITATION AT THIS TIME. This request for capability information does not constitute a request for proposals; submission of any information in response to this market survey is purely voluntary; the government assumes no financial responsibility for any costs incurred. If your organization has the potential capacity to perform these contract services, please provide the following information: 1) Firm s name, address, email address, web site address, telephone number, and business size and type of ownership for the organization. 2) Is your firm currently registered with the System for Award Management (SAM) formerly known as the Center Contractor s Registration (CCR) database? If not, has it been registered, or does it plan to register? 3) In consideration of NAICS code 236220 Commercial and Institutional Building Construction with a small size standard in dollars of $39.5M, which of the following small business categories is your firm classified under, if any? Small Business, Veteran Owned Small Business, Service Disable Veteran Owned Small Business, Small Disadvantaged Business, Women-owned Small Business, HUBZone Small Business, or 8(a) Business. 4) Is your firm capable of performance and Payment bonds for a project valued between $250,000 and $500,000. 5) Is your firm a small business interested in performing as a subcontractor or a prime contractor? 6) Does your firm have experience in working at a Veterans Administration Medical Center? If so, how many years of experience, or how many projects completed? 7) Tailored capability statements addressing the particulars of this effort, with appropriate documentation supporting claims of organizational and staff capability. If significant subcontracting or teaming is anticipated to deliver technical capability, organizations should address the administrative and management structure of such arrangements. The government will evaluate market information to ascertain potential market capacity to 1) provide services consistent in scope and scale with those described in this notice and otherwise anticipated; 2) secure and apply the full range of corporate financial, human capital, and technical resources required to successfully perform similar requirements; 3) implement a successful project management plan that includes: compliance with tight program schedules; cost containment; meeting and tracking performance; hiring and the retention of key personnel and risk mitigation. BASED ON THE RESPONSES TO THIS SOURCE SOUGHT NOTICE/MARKET RESEARCH, THIS REQUIREMENT MAY BE SET-ASIDE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES OR PROCURED THROUGH FULL AND OPEN COMPETITION, and multiple awards MAY be made.
