- Description
- NASA/Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) is hereby soliciting information from potential sources for a one-year lease of a Metal Additive Manufacturing System to inform its qualification and certification standards for this type of technology. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) MSFC is seeking capability statements from all interested parties, including all socioeconomic categories of Small Businesses and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU)/Minority Institutions (MI), and members of the underserved communities as defined by Executive Order 13985, Advancing Racial Equity And Support For Underserved Communities Through The Federal Government, for the purposes of determining the appropriate level of competition and/or small business subcontracting goals for the lease of a Metal Additive Manufacturing System. The Government reserves the right to consider a Small, 8(a), Women-owned (WOSB), Service-Disabled Veteran (SD-VOSB), Economically Disadvantaged Women-owned Small Business (EDWOSB) or HUBZone business set-aside based on responses received. NASA MSFC is the lead center for additive manufacturing (AM) for the agency and is tasked with the responsibility of establishing certification guidance for all partners and programs. The pace of AM technology development makes it challenging to keep qualification standards current with the cutting edge. As such, emerging gaps in technical knowledge and currency of certification standards for certain manufacturing processes and solutions to cover all aerospace-applied AM technology presently available in the commercial marketplace have arisen. Therefore, the MSFC Additive Manufacturing Laboratory requires access to innovative technologies to maintain current and accurate certification standards for additively manufactured parts and components. To inform these updates to current standards, NASA MSFC seeks to obtain a one-year lease for an additive manufacturing system that possess the following characteristics: Non-contact or contactless re-coater blade Integrated in-situ monitoring capability Unique processing parameter settings (laser power and scan speeds) to enable low angle overhangs without support material No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the solicitation. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on SAM.gov. Interested vendors are responsible for monitoring this website for the release of any solicitation or synopsis. Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation, literature, brochures, and references. All responses shall be submitted electronically via email to Kathrena Haefler at kathrena.r.haefler@nasa.gov and Sadie Moulton at sadie.m.moulton@nasa.gov no later than 3:00 PM Central Time on November 9, 2022. Please reference RFI number MSFCPS20-PROC-23001 in your response. This notice is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government, nor will the Government pay for information solicited. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation. Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant solicitation for the requirement.
