Description

Notice of Intent for Garland Company Inc (30) year High performance Built-Up Roofing system Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intends to require, on a sole source basis, purchase, and installation for the Garland Company Inc (30) year High performance Built-Up Roofing system for the TIER 3 replacement, Main Computer Room (MCR) at the Veterans Affairs (VA), Boston Healthcare System (VA BHS), Jamaica Plain Campus, located at 150 S. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA.� This project will modify the existing roof system. The existing roof system holds a 30-year warranty. The new roof system must be compatible with the existing system to maintain the warranty. Requiring a contractor to install the same roof system as what is existing will eliminate the potential for voiding the 30-year warranty for the hospital. The existing roof is only 5 years old and if any other roof system is installed the result could be �25 years of warranty being lost and/or the existing roof no longer being under any type of warranty, �if warranty provider voids the 30 year warranty.� Different solutions are available however the warranty provider of the roof will be required to approve all work. The reliance on the provider to approve work to extend warranty puts risk on the hospital in that it may not be approved and therefore would not be under any type of warranty. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS.� It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability of other qualified sources that can meet the requirements identified above and inherent with the referenced Garland Company Inc.� The Government is not obligated to and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this notice of intent.� All responses received within 15 days of the posting of this notice of intent will be considered by the Government.� A determination by the Government to require the brand name for the Garland Company Inc (30) year High performance Built-Up Roofing system is solely within the discretion of the Government.� Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determining whether to allow alternate system manufacturers.
