- Description
- Readers for people who are blind or have low vision must also be �qualified.� A qualified reader recites written information that is not otherwise accessible with technology.�� In addition, a qualified reader is a person who is able to read effectively, accurately, and impartially using any necessary specialized vocabulary and is familiar with the subject matter.� In this case it is facilities engineering.� A reader does not interpret information or perform essential job functions.�� The qualified reader should for example have a working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and some skills working with reading/writing math computations to the subject engineering employee can complete training requirements and other tasks required for their position.� The reader may be required to assist full time 5 days per week, 8 hours per day remotely through a computer interface.� The reader will be required to read/assist individuals with course materials/instructions and pulling information from web sites which may not be Section 508 compliant.� The reader may be required to report to the worksite (700 Robbins Ave, Philadelphia PA 19111) intermittently. �Tasks The contractor shall provide Workplace Assistance/Qualified Reader Services for individuals that are blind or visually impaired:� Qualified reader services Assist in the use of computer technology Reader is required to read, interpret and describe all kinds of materials effectively, accurately and impartially using any necessary specialized vocabulary or materials and be familiar with the subject matter which in this case is facilities engineering. The reader will access the individual�s computer remotely.
