Description
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is offering for sale three (3) items of standing timber on approximately 182 acres within five (5) separate blocks at Fort Pickett Military Installation, Nottoway and Brunswick County, Virginia of which approximately the following volumes to be harvested: These sales are sold per Item by unit, harvested timber will be sold by being scaled at the receiving mill by WEIGHT by the ton. Item 1: 2 BLOCKS �A and B� (124 ACRES) PINE SAWTIMBER -- 319 TONS PINE CHIP N SAW � 141 TONS PINE PULPWOOD � 1128 TONS OAK SAWTIMBER � 959 TONS POPLAR SAWTIMBER � 412 TONS MISC. HARDWOOD SAWTIMBER � 5 TONS HARDWOOD PULPWOOD � 91 TONS CHIPS (CHIPWOOD) � 0 TONS (MUST SUBMIT A PER UNIT BID TO BE ABLE TO CHIP) Contract Period of Performance: *Purchaser (s) will be issued a time restricted contract from date of sale with special terms as follow. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has listed the Northern Long- Eared Bat Myotis septentrionalis as endangered under the Endangered Species Act. All tree felling operations are restricted by federal law and must be completed by 1 April 2023. There will be no exception or extensions to this contract to allow for additional tree felling time. Item # one (1) Blocks A & B shelterwood and clearcut harvests � All tree felling shall be complete by 1 April 2023; tree skidding, processing, and hauling as well as all site repair work, if any as directed must be complete 31 May 2022. Item # two (2) Blocks C & D clearcut harvests � All tree felling shall be complete by 1 April 2023; tree skidding, processing, and hauling as well as all site repair work, if any as directed must be complete 31 May 2022. Item # three (3) Block E thinning harvest � All tree felling shall be complete by 1 April 2023; tree skidding, processing, and hauling as well as all site repair work, if any as directed must be complete 31 May 2022. INSPECTION INVITED ON FRIDAY 18 November 2022 BEGINNING AT 9:00 a.m.� ALL AVAILABLE ITEMS WILL BE SHOWN ON THE ABOVE DAY.� Sealed bids will be accepted until 2:00 p.m. Monday December 5, 2022 by the Acquisition, Management, and disposal section, real estate office, 803 Front Street, Norfolk, VA, and then opened publicly at Fort Pickett. All sale areas are outside of streamside management zones.� All timber for harvest is designated standing timber contained within the defined sale area boundaries.� Harvest operations and associated work shall comply with the State of Virginia Forestry Best Management Practices for Water Quality.� No trees will be harvested within the SMZs.� Standing timber herein is located within training areas are of low military use areas, all indications are that metal contamination will be negligible, if any.
