Description
Fisher House Questions: 1. Is a breakdown of square footage of types of flooring available for this contract?  The flooring types include ceramic tile, hardwood, and area rugs, and VCT tiles. There is no permanent/fixed carpeting in the Fisher house, only area rugs. There are currently 26 area rugs throughout the Fisher house, totaling an estimated 2,902 sf Ceramic tile/hardwood floors: approximately 13,500 square feet (2,902 sf covered by area rugs) VCT Tile 222 square feet will require strip and wax annually 2. What is the previous contract number? This is a new requirement; no previous contract exists.     3. Was laundry a part of the previous contract? This is a new requirement; no previous contract exists.     4. What is the average amount linen sent out to be cleaned per day (2 days a week)? This is a new requirement and we do not have an estimated about for this. 5. What are the hours required for coverage? Coverage hours are as listed in the PWS. 6. I have a question regarding Notice ID 36C24923Q0006 Fisher House Housekeeping Services: In Section Part B Scope of Work (d) (Page 9) The contractor shall be responsible for collecting all linens to be sent out for cleaning, which shall include bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, shower curtains, sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, pillow shams, blankets, comforters, mattress pads, pillows and kitchen towels. In Section Part B Scope of Work  b) (Page 10) The contractor shall be responsible for laundering and processing all linens, which shall include bath towels, washcloths, shower curtains, sheets, pillowcases, duvet covers, pillow shams, blankets, comforters, mattress pads, and pillows. In Section C.4 (Page 19) Linen Laundry Requirements . It seems the contractor is picking up the linens. But in section d) (Page 20) it has instructions on how the contractor should be handling linens including cleaning, drying and pressing them. Who is responsible for laundering linens? The contractor is responsible for collecting, storing, pickup/delivery, and laundering of the linens.   7. Will past performance references from subcontractors/subcontracting team be considered? Yes 8. What are the required certifications due at submission? None due at submission.  9. Can the government provide an approximate number of VA employees that will be servicing the Fisher House on a daily basis?  The approximate number of VA employee s that will be working at the Fisher house daily will be 4. This is strictly an approximation and is subject to change. 10. Can the government provide the approximate number of guests staying at the Fisher House on a regular basis?  No 11. What will be the square footage of the carpeted areas for service? There is no permanent/fixed carpeting in the Fisher house, only area rugs. There are currently 26 area rugs throughout the Fisher house, totaling an estimated 2,902 sf 12. What is the square footage of the hard surface flooring areas for service?  Ceramic tile/hardwood floors: approximately 13,500 square feet (2,902 sf covered by area rugs) VCT Tile 222 square feet 13. What is the maximum height of the windows that the contractor will be responsible for maintaining?  The contractor must clean the entirety of the windows on the inside of the building. For the exterior side the contractor will only be responsible for cleaning the first-floor level up to 10 in height from grade. Second floor Exterior side of windows will not be required for cleaning. 14. In Part B, Item F of the SOW: it states the contractor will be responsible for kitchen cleaning does this include cleaning dishes? Guests will be responsible for washing their own dishes, however any remaining dishes upon checkout will be the responsibility of the contractor to wash. 15. Can the government confirm that the contractor is to have the laundry cleaned at their own place of business or with a third party? Laundry cleaning shall conform to the below paragraph and other language listed within the Performance Work Statement. Compliance Standards: All workmanship shall be in accordance with practices/guidelines established by the Association for Linen Management (ALM) and accepted industry standards. It is intended that services shall include all processes necessary for the laundering and finishing of the articles even though every step involved is not specifically mentioned. All services shall be performed by qualified Contractors who are licensed and authorized to perform the work defined herein. All services shall be completed in a timely manner and in accordance with the state, local, federal, and VA standards as listed in the Performance Work Statement. In no case shall clean and soiled linen share the same physical space. The Laundry Plant shall be open to inspection of sanitary conditions by the COR and/or the Fisher House representatives. After processing, laundered articles shall be in serviceable and sanitary condition, meeting established quality and performance requirement standards. 16. Is there an incumbent? If Yes, What is the incumbent contract number? What is the name of the vendor? What is the final year total contract amount? Has there been any changes to the scope of work? No. Is there another contractor or vendor performing the Linen laundry services for the VA? At which location is the contractor required to pick up and drop off Linens? The contractor is responsible for collecting, storing, pickup/delivery, and laundering of the linens.   Pickup and delivery must be at the Fisher House location, located at the Franklin R. Sousley Campus. If the contractor is purely responsible for linen laundry services for the contract, do you expect the contractor to work with a nearby linen service vendor?  In the solicitation it is written that there are 16 rooms, however according to the floor plan, there are 20 bedroom suites.  Could you clarify the number of rooms required for cleaning, and rooms that are not included under this contract (if any). There are 16 total bedrooms, Contractor shall refer to Drawing FH-Lexington, KY 1st-2nd Floor Furniture Layouts dwg.pdf. The furniture layout is the only drawing to be in the contract. All other drawings are to be deleted. All rooms, common space, hallways, closets, restrooms, stairwells, elevator, and livable areas are required for cleaning. Mechanical, electrical, and telephone equipment rooms will not be required for cleaning. Is the contractor required to rebed on a daily basis or after each visitor's check-out.  Refer to Part B Scope of Work, c), NOTE: Fisher House guests are responsible for cleaning their own bedrooms and bathrooms during their stay, and therefore occupied guest rooms will only require cleaning by the contractor once per week to refresh the room or by request from the guest or Fisher House Manager. Refreshing the room shall include; removing soiled laundry and replenishing, removing trash/trash bags and providing new liners, rebed, replenishing amenities, such as toilet paper, soap, towels, wash rags etc., spot clean and vacuum as needed. Is the contractor required to replace visitor's bath towels, hand towels, and all other bathroom items on a daily basis or at the request of the visitor or visitor's checkout?  The contractor shall replenish bath towels, hand towels, and all other bathroom items contained in guest bedrooms to include collection of soiled linens at the request of the guest, Fisher House Manager, or as to refresh as explained in question 5. Guest restrooms open to the common areas shall be cleaned and replenished daily. Upon checkout, all guest room and bathroom soiled linens shall be removed and replaced with clean linens. What is the size of carpet and hard floor area for strip/wax?  The flooring types include ceramic tile, hardwood, and area rugs, and VCT tiles. There is no permanent/fixed carpeting in the Fisher house, only area rugs. Is a site visit possible? No site visits are not possible do to building under construction and will not be passed over to the government until 1 January 2023.
