Description
ID 9531CB23P0009 The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) intends to make an award to LawProse, Inc, 8133 Inwood Rd, Dallas, TX 75209-3337, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 6.302-1 for the LawProse Custom Workshop. ?The proposed vendor will provide a one in-house custom workshop for 40 Office of Enforcement staff members (attorneys, paralegals, investigators, forensic accountants, auditors, analysts, eLaw support specialists, legal assistants, economists, and administrative officers), titled, Advanced Legal Writing & Editing. The Office of Enforcement currently has a large number of staff who are required to engage in various kinds of complex legal writing on a daily basis. These staff members are in need of a high-quality, comprehensive legal writing and editing course that will provide instruction on analytical and persuasive writing, to be used in letters, memos, motions, and briefs. The training will cover the development of the following skills: - How to quickly frame issues that get the judges attention, - How to achieve a lean style that makes the attorneys prose stand out from most legal writing, - How to smooth the transitions between sentences and paragraphs, - How to quote authority most effectively, - How to get their projects down on paper most efficiently, - How to master the prerequisites to professional-level writing, - How to budget time for the different phases of writing, - How to achieve a lucid train of thought for legal writing, and - How to write a powerful conclusion. Instruction will be provided in the form of lectures and written exercises, including at least one exercise requiring participants to produce a detailed outline for a writing project. A course book will be provided to each participant that covers all of the topics presented during the course. The Instructor, Bryan Garner, is an expert in the field of legal writing and editing with extensive experience teaching, writing, and lecturing on the subject as detailed in Mr. Garners resume. Mr. Garner has written an authoritative book that covers all of the topics presented in the Advanced Legal Writing & Editing for Support Staff workshop, copies of which will be distributed to program attendees. Only this suggested source can furnish the requirements, to the exclusion of other sources, because no other vendor offers the variety and depth of topics necessary to meet the needs of Office of Enforcement support staff for instruction on advanced legal writing and editing. This is not a solicitation; however, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, or quotation, which shall be considered by the agency, no later than January 10, 2023.
