Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price purchase order to Molecular Devices, LLC, 3860 N. First Street, San Jose, CA 95134 on a sole source basis. In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the Contractor is the only known responsible source who can provide the product and/or services for the requirement listed below. The purpose of this notice is to inform the public that the NIH anticipates issuing a purchase order to Molecular Devices, LLC for an electrical amplifier and digital converter system comprised of a Multiclamp 700B Microelectrode Amplifier, AxonDigidata1550B1 Digitizer, and pClamp 11 software. The system is required for patchclamp electrophysiology experiments that provide the basis for experiments to investigate synaptic contacts and electrical activity in single neurons in the auditory system of mice. The system allows measurement of the minute electrical signals in single live neurons, and thus allows investigation of the function of these neurons in the brain. The combination of equipment and software has the extremely low electrical noise required for measuring the minute electrical signals in neurons in the auditory system of mice. The pClamp software is the sole piece of software capable of running the amplifier systems and the only software found which produces data files that can be analyzed within the software itself, as well as used in other integral data analysis software in the lab. There are two identical systems in the laboratory, allowing different users to seamlessly move between research equipment with no re-training time, and for system accessories to be interchangeable between the systems. Purchase of an additional system will allow seamless integration with exiting systems and enable the successful completion of ongoing projects. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes. However, any party that believes it can fulfill the requirement as stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports and demonstrates their ability to satisfy the requirement. A determination by the Government to compete this proposed award based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. It is anticipated that an award will be issued approximately five (5) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another organizationhas the capability to meet this requirement. Responses to this notice must have the notice ID #SS-NIH-6528231 in the subject line of the email. Please email responses to zetherine.gore@nih.gov no later than 12:00 p.m. EST on Friday, December 30, 2022.
