- Description
- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) intends to award single source contracts to ADB Safegate (ADB), Columbus, OH, for the acquisition of Runway Status Light (RWSL) System equipment to include individual light controllers, master lighting controllers and constant current regulator (CCR) testers. In accordance with the FAA Acquisition Management System Paragraph 3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis of the FAA's decision to contract with a selected source via single source procedures. ADB Safegate is the only approved manufacturer for this baselined system. The control equipment is designed to interface with the existing installed lighting systems and buying from another manufacturer would incur costs to study the effects of the equipment on the system as a whole and software redesign which would negate any savings gained from using another manufacturer�s components. When upgraded, sites with existing RWSL systems will continue to use lighting components that the new generation 2 ADB Safegate equipment is designed to work with. ADB Safegate is the only manufacturer that builds light controlling equipment and fixtures that will ensure the FAA baseline is maintained and that will work with existing components. There are no other known companies that manufacture products that are �plug and play� compatible with existing ADB RWSL systems. ADB has no authorized distributors who provide these products A market survey (6973GH-23-MS-00007) was posted to the SAM.gov web site on December 12, 2022. No responses were received in response to the market survey. The proposed principle North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this effort is 335129, Other Lighting Equipment Manufacturing, with a size standard of 500 employees. This announcement is for informational purposes only, not a Solicitation/Request for Proposal. A competitive solicitation is not available for this procurement.
