Description
Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division (NWSC IHD) is requesting information on test equipment that is able to provide data for the following nine metrics gathered in an outdoor littoral/maritime testing environment related to the detection of chemical agent simulants and biological agent surrogates: Airborne chemical simulant vapor and/or chemical particulate material concentrations Chemical simulant droplet deposition on maritime surfaces Airborne biological surrogate particulate concentration Biological surrogate particulate deposition on maritime surfaces Single height surface level 2D wind grid comprised of wind speeds and directions Multi-Level vertical meteorological sensor system to measure conditions as a function of height Vapor Phase Plume Tracking Systems Aerosol Phase Plume Tracking Systems Liquid Droplet Standoff Detection This testing environment will involve chemical simulants that have Molecular Weights and Functional Groups similar to Chemical Warfare Agents, biological surrogates that have bio-fluorescent properties and are in the respirable range (0.5um-30um) of Biological Warfare Agents, and Toxic Industrial Chemical (TIC) simulants to match commonly used TICs that present a common challenge to nearly all operational environments. NSWC IHD is interested in simulant/surrogate dissemination and Chemical and Biological Detection systems that are able to perform in all littoral environments with regard to the challenges of rain, salt spray, high temperature, high humidity, and instability caused due to mounting on the test equipment on a non-gyroscopically stable platform. These systems will be considered for their utility as referee systems in support of test events, technologies employed to the operational services, or both. However, systems that provide novel capabilities or enhanced sensor precision will be considered even if the system does not have an ingress protection for moisture and cannot operate in all littoral and maritime environments, through the metrics of: Maximum-minimum operational temperature Maximum-minimum operational relative humidity Pollution rating (IEC 60664-1:1992) Ingress Protection (moisture) Response in the presence of the operational background
