Description
1--PIT TEMPERING FURNACE DUE DATE 17 MAR 2023 QUESTIONS ASKED/ANSWERS 1.Is there a minimum part size requirement? Per 5.3.2.8 Required Accessories, we are to provide a loading/unloading basket which can handle parts up to 33 dia. x 36 tall. We will need to supply a mesh liner for the basket if the smallest parts are capable of falling through the support grid. Minimum part size is not a requirement at this time. 2.Are there approximate measurements of the existing furnace envelope? Does this include a pit or is the existing furnace above ground? Per 5.3.1 Furnace Envelope, the furnace must fit within the space of an existing furnace. As per section 3.20.2, requesting an approximate floor plan of the offer including dimensions of the base of the furnace. I will compare them to the existing unit dimensions. This is installed in a pit on a raised structural steel platform, so it is critical that the unit meet height as well as foot print requirements. The foot print is composite shape so I would need to see the layout. 3.Is there an existing compressed air supply and if so, what is its capacity? Per 5.3.2.2 Cover, the cover shall be provided with a manually actuated hydraulic cylinder for lifting the cover. We typically use pneumatic cylinders to reduce the complications and costs of hydraulics. There are not utilities for a pneumatically operated cover on the existing unit. The current unit is a manually operated, self-contained unit with a simple hydraulic cylinder similar to an automotive jack. If the cover mechanism requires compressed air for operation, it would probably not meet the specification.
