Description
SYNOPSIS: This Sources Sought Announcement is to assist the US Army DEVCOM Soldier Center to identify potential sources fora benchtop microbial fermentation/bioreactor system to support research to produce foodstuffs/biomass via fermentation to Soldiers. The Government requests that responses be submitted electronically to Nicole.f.farhadi.civ@army.mil, by April 05, 2023 by 5pm EST. Background: The Government (DEVCOM Soldier Center) is in the need of a benchtop fermentation/bioreactor system. This system will be used to develop edible biomass for potential use in ration development. Description: Benchtop fermentation/bioreactor system. Specific Specifications: The fermentation/bioreactor system must have a controller tower to control one or more fermenters. A single use option is also desirable. The system must offer ways to independently control temperature (in the range of 20C to 45C), and aeration for different fermenter conditions (organisms, media, fermenter size, etc.). Working volume range must be 500ml to 3L +, and must be considered a benchtop system. The system should offer compatible options for bacteria, yeast, fungi, mammalian, insect or plant cells. Interchangeable autoclavable and/or single-use bioreactors are desirable. Deliverables: Interested sources should provide information on their products and the complete cost to acquire said system. Information for set up and familiarization of the system should also be included. Delivery Date: The Government anticipates six weeks/months lead time for this item.
