- Description
- This is a SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE only. Responses to this notice will be used for information and planning purposes. No quotes are being requested or accepted at this time with this notice. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Network Contracting Office 1, Medical Surgical Prime Vendor (MSPV) Program has a VA-wide requirement for Trade Agreement Act (TAA) compliant Medtronic Situate Detection System Disposables compatible with existing Situate Detection Systems at VA facilities. This does not include the Medtronic Situate System equipment which is TAA compliant. The Situate Detection System of the OR Safety Division with Medtronic is unique sole source technology. The Situate Detection System is an adjunct technology to the manual count that solves a miscount problem with technology that accurately and reliably detects missing tagged sponges in seconds, whether they re in a patient or the operating room. The Situate Detection System uses sensors to transmit non-ionizing, low frequency radio waves to detect tagged cotton. When the tagged cotton is stimulated by the device s signal, it transmits its own signal back to the detector, instantly identifying its presence. The Situate Detection System is the only system that assists with the prevention of retained surgical sponges by utilizing radio frequency detection technology. The Situate Detection System Countable Technology includes towels, lap sponges and gauze products, and it provides a perfect solution for hospitals to comply with recent AORN guidelines for prevention of unintentionally retained surgical items. *Potentially exclude this chart?
