Firm Fixed Priced Purchase Order for 2,000 Geranyl Acetol Lures All cost to include but not limit to: overhead, general and administrative, profit, insurance, and transportation. The geranyl acetol lure is the male-produced sex pheromone emitted by Tetropium fuscum (F.) and Tetropium cinnamopterum (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) (Silk andSweeney, 2007; Silk et al., 2007). Insect attractants are sensitive detectors of insect populations at the group, genus, or specieslevel, depending on the type of attractant. Attractants allow for detection and monitoring ofnon-indigenous insect pests and aid in a variety of control strategies. Forest pests are some ofthe most serious exotic plant pests threatening United States agriculture. If not detected, monitored, and managed in the early stages of a new infestation, these pests can causetremendous damage. The cost of eradication could be in the millions of dollars. The requested supplies are needed to equip program personnel to detect and monitor exotic pest infestations. The lures are a primary tool used to detect the initial infestation, delimit the extent of the infestation, and manage introduced pest populations. Without these lure dispensers, detecting and defining the infestation might not be possible. Early detection can reduce the costs of an eradication program and make it more likely to succeed, potentially saving the USDA, the States, and cooperators millions of dollars.
