- The IHS requires the professional services of a contractor to provide highly specialized services in academic detailing and to coach and train IHS staff in the evidence base for academic detailing, elements of communication, establishing successful relationships in one-to-one academic detailing encounter, and develop topics, printed materials and key messages for academic detailing by individuals for delivery. �The IHS is seeking a vendor that is qualified to provide basic skills training and consultative work and advanced skills training. A vendor may be qualified to provide advanced skills training, yet this does not mean that this vendor is qualified to also provide basic skills training.� The training provided needs to be adapted to the healthcare setting and needs of IHS practitioners.� SCOPE Academic Detailing uses balanced evidence-based information and tools and is delivered by a healthcare professional specifically skilled in empathic persuasive communication. Vendor shall provide Academic Detailing Basic Skills Training to identified IHS sites both on site and virtually. Vendor shall provide Academic Detailing Advanced Skills Training to identified IHS both on-site and virtually. Vendor shall provide Academic Detailing Consultative Services to IHS sites listed herein to support IHS pilot Academic Detailing personnel. The contractor shall possess superior knowledge in academic detailing and/or the use of social marketing and motivational interviewing techniques. The contractor will incorporate didactic education and simulation and/or role-playing exercises in the training. Group exercises will be designed to explore different types of communication styles and sharpen communication skills needed to provide effective academic detailing interventions. The contractor shall use the principles of social marketing to help participants gain a thorough understanding of both the academic detailing process and the strategies needed to improve quality of patient care. The contractor shall train clinicians and required personnel to implement and support an academic detailing program. The contractor shall provide skills-based training in quarterly (4 sessions) several two-to-three consecutive day-long workshops to train academic detailers on basic and/or advanced skills of Academic Detailing. �These sessions should be flexible and include both virtual and on-site training opportunities.
