- Description
- This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items or commercial services prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; proposals are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. The Government provides training courses which are managed through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Learning Center (ULC) located in Huntsville, Alabama.� These courses are taught at educational institutions by experienced and/or certified instructors. Courses are taught utilizing technical and/or specialized manuals in conjunction with book and laboratory-based exercises designed to fulfill the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers mission and needs-based requirements. The purpose of this contract is to provide an overview of the rules and practices that govern the construction of medical healthcare facilities from programming through construction and occupancy. Construction of medical facility types is governed by a strict set of codes and requirements as established by The Joint Commission (TJC). This course will increase participants� understanding of code and compliance issues relevant to working in a health care environment. Topics covered in this course include: Medical Program Overview, MILCON, the DVA Majors Process, Initial Outfitting & Transitioning (IO&T), Defense Health Agency (DHA) Sustainment, Restoration and Modernization (SRM), Department of Veterans� Affairs (DVA) Non-Recurring Maintenance Process, and American Society for Health Care Engineering (ASHE) Healthcare Construction Workshop topics. Presentations, case studies, or group exercises may be used to encourage meaningful discussions and provide hands-on experience. After completion of this course, each student should be able to support Medical Construction, DHA SRM, and DVA NRM project execution as a member of Medical, SRM, or NRM Project Delivery Teams. This course provides Continuing Education Units to all students and professional Development Units to students who possess the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.The Medical Construction Project Delivery course shall consist of 36 hours of classroom instruction combined with case studies, and group exercises to encourage meaningful discussions and provide hands-on experience. The Contractor shall teach 16 hours (two-days) of classroom instruction combined with 20 hours taught by the Government.The contractor shall, as a minimum but not limited to, teach the following topics: Health care planning process Health care design process Health care construction process Life Safety Code� compliance Construction risk assessment Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems Medical gas systems Medical technology Project expectations
