Description: The work includes: �construction of an island upstream of Lake Pepin, in Upper Pool 4 of the Mississippi River. �It is part of the Navigation and Ecosystem Sustainability Program (NESP). �This will result in increased floodplain forest and fish overwintering areas. �Construction is with granular fill from the channel maintenance dredging stockpile at Reads Landing; and the fine fill from access dredging, and habitat dredging as needed. �Riprap will be placed along the shore to protect certain constructed features; this rock is obtained from off-site sources. �Grass and willows will also be planted.
