- Sources Sought for Mk 70 Pressure Cartridges This is a Sources Sought Notice. This notice neither constitutes a Request for Proposal, nor does it restrict the Government from an ultimate acquisition approach. This notice should not be construed as a commitment by the Government for any purpose. Requests for solicitation will not receive a response. All information is to be submitted at no cost or obligation to the U.S. Government. The U.S. Government reserves the right to reject, in whole or in part, any input as a result of this notice. The U.S. Government is not obligated to notify respondents of the results of this notice. If a formal solicitation is generated at a later date, a pre-solicitation notice will be published. No award will be made as a result of this Sources Sought Notice. NSWC IHD requires a contract for fabrication, in-process inspection, test, and delivery of the MK 70 pressure cartridges. The Pressure Cartridge is a dual-bridgewire Electro-Explosive Device (EED) initiated by an electrical input to produce a gas pressure output. The pressure cartridge is used in the stage separation system between the first-stage MK70 motor and second-stage ducted rocket for GQM-163A Supersonic Sea Skimming Target (SSST) Program. Two pressure cartridges are installed into a Release Housing Assembly. When an electrical input is applied to the pressure cartridge, the gas pressure output from one pressure cartridge pushes a Piston which, in turn, pushes a Lever (Clamp Actuator) that opens the Manacle Clamp allowing stage separation. The Mk 70 booster requires the installation of two (2) pressure cartridges per rocket motor.
