This work item describes the requirements for the Contractor to renew the fan coil unit identified in Table 1. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 General. 3.1.1 CIR. None. 3.1.2 Tech Rep. Not applicable. 3.1.3 Protective measures.� The Contractor must furnish and install all protective measures in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0000, paragraph 3.3.3 (Vessel component, space, and equipment protection). 3.1.4 Interferences. The Contractor must handle all interferences in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0000, paragraph 3.3.5 (Interferences). 3.1.5 Scaffolding and rigging.� The Contractor must, in accordance with CFR Title 29, Part 1915, Subpart E, erect suitable staging or scaffolding, as required, to facilitate work.� The Contractor is responsible to provide rigging and providing crane services to install GFP Equipment.� 3.1.6 Rigging plan.� The Contractor must provide rigging plan for GFE equipment at the Arrival Conference for government approval. 3.1.7 Electrical work. �The Contractor must accomplish all electrical work in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 3042, and test cables in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 3041� 3.1.8 Welding requirements.� The Contractor must accomplish all welding in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0740. 3.1.9 NDI.� The Contractor must perform NDI of the welds in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 0740, Appendix C.� Submit a CFR. NOTE Coast Guard personnel will operate all shipboard machinery and equipment. 3.1.10 Operational test, initial. Prior to commencement of work, the Contractor must witness Coast Guard personnel perform an initial operational test of all items or shipboard devices to be disturbed, used, repaired, or altered, to demonstrate existing operational condition. Submit a CFR. 3.2 Fan coil renewal. The Contractor must perform the following to renew the fan coil units identified in Table 1. 3.2.1 Drain. Isolate, drain and dispose of all fluids from each fan coil unit's supply and return piping system in accordance with applicable Federal, state and local regulations. 3.2.2 Removal. Disconnect and remove each fan coil unit, disposing of material in accordance with all applicable Federal, state, and local regulations. 3.2.3 Installation. Install new GFE fan coil units to original configuration with new fasteners using following Coast Guard Drawings as guidance: Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-180-024 Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-180-038 Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-512-534 Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-512-006 Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-512-007 Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-516-002, Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-516-013 Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-516-022 3.2.4 Thermostats. Reconnect all fan controls and thermostat wiring. 3.3 Surface preparation. The Contractor must clean all exposed piping with a soft bristle brush and a mild detergent solution to remove all visible surface contaminants. WARNING Do not drain any fluids including fresh water, into any space, bilge, or exterior location. 3.4 Pipe flushing. After all authorized work is completed; flush all new and disturbed piping with clean fresh water for five minutes or until all debris is removed, whichever occurs first. Ensure that flushing fluid is directed to move scale and foreign debris away from installed machinery to prevent possible damage upon operational testing. Submit a CFR documenting date and time of flushing process, and verification of piping cleanliness. 3.4.1 Disposal. Dispose of flushing fluid in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 3.5 Insulation renewal. The Contractor must renew all insulation material disturbed during accomplishment of this Work Item over all piping, including associated pipe hangers, valves, fittings, and flanges, in accordance with details in Coast Guard Drawing 750-WMSL-508-001. �Do not attempt to re-use existing insulation.� 3.5.1 Coating. Coat the newly installed insulation using the system specified for �Insulation Surfaces, Fiberglass Sheet/Closed Cell PVC Foam� in SFLC Std Spec 6310, Appendix B (Cutter and Boat Interior Painting Systems). 3.6 Leak test. After assembling all mechanical (i.e., threaded, bolted, etc.) joints, the Contractor must test the Fan Coil Units and associated piping system's operation using the system fluid at normal operating pressure. Ensure zero visible leakage from or deformation of mechanical parts by repairing all leaks and discrepancies. Submit a CFR. NOTE Coast Guard personnel will operate all shipboard machinery and equipment. 3.7 Operational test, post repairs. After completion of work, the Contractor must thoroughly test, in the presence of the Coast Guard Inspector and demonstrate all items or shipboard devices that have been disturbed, used, repaired, altered, or installed to be in satisfactory operating condition. Submit a CFR. 3.8 Water or air testing. The Contractor must perform a water test or air test to verify all drain lines are clear. 3.9 Touch-up preservation. The Contractor must prepare and coat all new and disturbed surfaces to match existing adjacent surfaces in accordance with SFLC Std Spec 6310, (Touch-ups and minor coating repairs). 4.� NOTES This section is not applicable to this work item.
