Description
The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) seeks information on commercial vendors that are capable of the onsite sampling, characterization, and the disposal of the radioactive material within eight 55-gallon and two 7-gallon drums. The radioactive material may include any isotopes authorized by the NIST radioactive materials license. After results of this market research are obtained and analyzed, NIST may conduct a competitive procurement and subsequently award a Purchase Order. If at least two qualified small businesses are identified during this market research stage, then any competitive procurement that resulted would be conducted as a small business set-aside. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for the onsite sampling, characterization, and the disposal of radioactive waste material that are contained within the 10 drums. NIST requires that prospective vendors provide a statement with the following information: How the vendor proposes to sample, characterize, and dispose of the material in the 10 drums of radioactive waste. Cite the relevant section(s) of the vendors Radioactive Materials License that authorizes them to perform the tasks outlined above, and provide a copy of their license, with the relevant section(s) highlighted. State where the vendors site is located, and how the vendor proposes to sample the material onsite and characterize the samples. And how they plan to secure and transport the radioactive material to the disposal sites. Provide a description of the sampling, analysis processes, the transport containers and specifications, and state how they are suitable for safely and securely sampling, analyzing, and transporting the radioactive material, including any history of similar work. Provide an estimate of the number of days for vendors onsite activities to occur and any sampling materials, analysis devices, transport vehicles, and containers to arrive at NIST. NIST is seeking responses from all responsible sources. Small businesses are defined under the associated NAICS code for this effort, 562211, as those domestic sources having annual total sales of $12.5M or less. Please include your companys size classification and socio-economic status in any response to this notice. Companies that can provide these services are requested to email a detailed response describing their abilities to robert.singman@nist.gov no later than the response date for this sources sought notice. The response should address items 1-5 above.
