- Description
- The U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), a bureau of the U.S. Department of Commerce, is now accepting applications for Phase 1 of the new Tech Hubs Program, which is designed to invest directly in high-potential U.S. regions to enable them to become globally competitive in industries of the future. Read todays press release in the link below. With the publication of todays Phase 1 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO), EDA began accepting applications for one or both of strategy development grants and EDA designation as a Tech Hub, which will be a widely recognized indicator of a regions potential for rapid, technology- and innovation-centric economic growth. Applicants must form eligible consortia to apply. View todays Phase 1 Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) with more details about eligibility and requirements in the link below. EDA will host an informational webinar on May 18 about the Tech Hubs Program Phase 1 NOFO. Register for the webinar in the link below. The Tech Hubs Program was created as part of the bipartisan CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 to drive regional technology- and innovation-centric growth by strengthening a regions capacity to manufacture, commercialize, and deploy critical technologies. This program will invest directly in high-potential U.S. regions and help them transform into globally competitive innovation centers in approximately 10 years. By catalyzing the creation of good jobs for American workers at all skill levels, both equitably and inclusively, the Tech Hubs Program is investing in our future. The Tech Hub program also aims to foster geographic diversity in innovation, increase opportunities in regions across the country and for diverse business owners, and to ensure equitable access to job opportunities. This program aims to grow new centers of innovation throughout America which will in turn help strengthen U.S. economic and national security. This program also will bring together a wide array of public, private, and academic partners into a collaborative consortium focused on regional economic development needs and unique growth opportunities.
