- Notice of Intent to Sole Source for Maintenance Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC The National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to award a Firm-Fixed Price purchase order to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC. In accordance with FAR Part 6.302-1, the Contractor is the only known responsible source who can provide the services for the requirement as described below. The purpose of this notice is to inform the public that the National Institutes of Health (NIH) intends to issue a purchase order on a sole source basis to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC for a service agreement to provide emergency service and preventative maintenance as necessary to keep a Zeiss LSM780 confocal microscope operating, prevent problems and downtime and minimize the impact of a broken microscope on critical research.� Parts made by Carl Zeiss are specifically engineered to match the microscope made by the same manufacturer.� No other company has been identified who can effectively perform service on the Carl Zeiss microscope. This notice is not a request for competitive quotes.� However, any party that believes it can perform the requirement stated herein may submit a written capability statement that clearly supports it is an authorized Carl Zeiss service provider and its ability to service a Zeiss LSM780 microscope to include typical service times. It is anticipated that an award will be issued within seven (7) days after the date of this notice unless the Government determines that another organization has the capability to meet this requirement.
