- Description
- Amendment 2 was posted on 6/5/2023 - See attachments for more information. Amendment 1 was posted on 5/31/23. See attachments for more information. The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a national laboratory owned by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). NREL is the only federal laboratory dedicated to research, development, commercialization, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. NREL is managed and operated for DOEs Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy by The Alliance for Sustainable Energy (Alliance), the M&O Contractor. Under the Advanced Research for Integrated Energy Systems (ARIES) initiative, NREL will build out hydrogen system capabilities at the Flatirons Campus (FC). The hydrogen infrastructure at the FC will include a research-ready megawatt-scale electrolyzer with hydrogen compression and storage and a fuel cell system. This hardware will support H2@Scale goals by enabling integrated systems R&D (e.g., to demonstrate grid services, energy storage, renewable hydrogen production, and innovative end-use applications). The system will be coupled with the controllable grid interface at the FC and will be designed with flexibility to provide a testbed for integrated electrolyzer R&D, hydrogen utilization R&D, and to study the science of scaling for hydrogen energy systems. Description of Work: The scope of the project is to construct the civil and electrical infrastructure for the hydrogen electrolyzer system purchased by NREL as identified in the drawings and specifications in Exhibits A and B. NREL will purchase and deliver the new 1.5 MVA transformer shown in the project documents. The Subcontractor shall unload, relocate on site, set, install and commission the transformer. Purchase, install and relocation of the hydrogen electrolyzer equipment is excluded from this scope of work. The electrolyzer equipment has been purchased by NREL and temporarily installed at research pad 6. The equipment will be relocated and reinstalled at the permanent site by NREL once the project is complete. Location: Offerors shall have a bona-fide office located within 50 miles of NRELs South Table Mountain Campus or shall be able to demonstrate their capability to perform in these areas: National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) South Table Mountain Campus (STM) 15013 Denver West Parkway Golden, CO 80401 Other Requirements: No subcontract award will be made to any contractor that is not registered or in the process of registering with the System for Award Management (SAM). Please visit the SAM website at https://sam.gov/content/entity-registration for instructions on how to register.
