Description
Under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers intent to require, on a sole source basis, a brand name requirement for Rauland Borg responder IV system in the new Surgical and Clinical Tower Project at the VA West Haven Campus. There is an existing nurse call system which includes patient call stations, emergency stations, code blue stations, dome lights and master stations. The nurse call system has one server in the data center and control cabinets in the local Telecommunications Rooms. The current Nurse call system is a Rauland Borg responder IV system in most areas of the hospital. The other areas of the hospital have the Rauland Borg Responder V system. The newer Responder IV system will will communicate with the older Responder V system. The nurse call system needs to communicate throughout the facility as calls are answered at the point of the call but also in the operators room in Building 1. The system will need to have full integration for this communication to be achieved. To ensure communication across the entire campus, the same e manufacturer products must be used. Otherwise, existing system for the campus would need to be replaced. The cost to replace the Nurse Call system on campus is cost prohibitive compared to extending the existing system. If the Nurse Call system is not sole sourced, then patient safety would be at risk as patient emergencies would not be able to communicate across the campus. This risk to patient safety is not acceptable. THIS NOTICE OF INTENT IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. It is a market research tool being used to determine the availability of other qualified sources that can meet the requirements identified above and inherent with the referenced Nurse Call system. The Government is not obligated to, and will not pay for any information received from potential sources as a result of this notice of intent. All responses received within 15 days of the posting of this notice of intent will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government to require the brand name for the Nurse Call system for the VA West Haven procurement based on this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purposes of determine whether to allow alternate system manufacturers. Submit responses within 30 days of the posting of this notice of intent via email to: tyler.s.maryak@usace.army.mil (list ""W912WJ24X0005 Rauland Borg Responder IV System"" in the subject line of the email).
