- Description
- A. INTRODUCTION The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Farm Production and Conservation (FPAC) Business Center on behalf of Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) is investigating the interest from contractors that can install Geotab telematics devices, harnesses, and PIV card reader in NRCS-owned vehicles. This is a nationwide requirement, and the devices may need to be installed in vehicles at any USDA Service Center across the country. This Request for Information (RFI)/Source Sought is being issued solely for information and planning purposes and does not constitute an Invitation for Bids (IFB), a Request for Proposals (RFP), a Request for Quotations (RFQ) or an indication that the Government will contract for any of the items and/or services contained in this notice. In accordance with FAR 52.215-3, Request for Information or Solicitation for Planning Purposes, the Government will not pay for any information/items submitted in response to the RFI. No determination as to the viability of this requirement has been made at this point and there is currently no solicitation for this effort. Any solicitation resulting from this RFI will be announced separately. B. BACKGROUND Telematics devices assist FPAC with the ability to collect real-time data automatically on motor vehicles in its fleet inventory, track costs and utilization, and reduce the administrative burden on the field. In addition, telematics will provide more accurate data needed to comply with Federal reporting requirements and create exception and ad hoc reports for improved fleet operations and oversight of driver safety. Overall, more accurate data will help the FPAC Mission Area make better decisions regarding fleet utilization and retention. See the attached file titled ""USDA Geotab Telematics Installations RFI"" for the full details of this Request for Information.
