- Description
- Argonne provides onsite and offsite access to 10,000 non-employees and 50,000 visitors each year for a variety of reasons including but not limited to: conference/lecture attendees, tour groups, contractors/vendors, and scientific users who come on site to participate in research. Registration for access to Argonne is required in all of these cases. Argonne wishes to procure a centralized registration solution. This solution, called Argonne Enterprise Registration System (AERS), will be a comprehensive, centralized system that will collect and process data for multiple non-employee types. AERS will fully integrate with Argonnes current applications both commercial and custom products (identity management system, people management system (Workday), access management systems, credential issuing systems, training systems, proposal systems, safety systems, foreign national access authorization system, etc.) as well as third-party external applications such as Open Researcher and Contributor ID (ORCID), Research Organization Registry unique ID (ROR), as well as support software such as Optical Character Recognition (OCR), etc. AERS will be the application used by different types of non-employees to register for digital and physical access to Argonne's resources. A small group of employees may also use the application. A registrant chooses the type of access they require (e.g., facility user at facility A, B or a collaborator, etc.), fills out the required information in the registration forms, and then submits their registration. Each registration can be associated with multiple access requests. Each access request is routed to the appropriate group of approvers for approval. Once an access request is approved, the registrant is provisioned a domain account (digital access) and/or a site access credential (physical access), as appropriate. The registrant will return to AERS and re-register when their access has lapsed, with a goal of reactivating their domain account or obtaining a new access credential. The registrant will also use AERS to keep their profile information current.
