Description

This contract was awarded to collect and analyze administrative data on high school course-taking and completion, postsecondary education enrollment, employment and earnings, and receipt of services and benefits through federal programs to describe the outcomes for a large sample of youth with disabilities (approximately 21,000) participating in the National Longitudinal Transition Study 2012 (NLTS 2012). Although federal policy promotes use of already collected and available data from across agencies, this type of data collection and use has not been conducted at a large scale for students with disabilities. This study examines the feasibility and use of available administrative data to describe the outcomes of students with disabilities. The changes are necessary to address data preparation issues that have come up using administrative records to follow students with disabilities through high school and into college. This study relies solely on the use of data from various administrative sources to examine students� outcomes, which has proven to be more complex than originally anticipated due to issues with missing records and holes in available data.
