- THIS IS A SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE ONLY. This is not a solicitation for bids, proposals, proposal abstracts, or quotations. The purpose of this Sources Sought Notice is to obtain information regarding the availability and capability of all qualified sources to perform a potential requirement. The responses received from interested contractors will assist the Government in determining the appropriate acquisition method. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Network Contracting Office (NCO) 20, is conducting market research to identify potential sources which can provide the following in support of the VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS): VAPSHCS has a need for Hydropac AWS-2500 Pouch Machine. Manufacturer will provide initial set-up of machine, including uncrating, moving it to the location in building 23 room 104, and attaching manifold to the water pouch unit. Salient Characteristics and Scope of Work For Hydropac AWS-2500 Pouch Machine The Hydropac AWS-2500 Pouch Machine is an automatic packaging machine that produces water filled Hydropac Pouches using specially formulated Hydroseal Pouch Film. Filled pouches provide convenient, reliable and economical drinking water for research rodents, and can be stored for extended periods, while maintaining water quality. Requirements: Must be capable of producing up to 600 pouches an hour (10 per minute.) Must produce 13 oz. (384 ml) or 8 oz. (236 ml) pouches. Must provide consistent water pressure to the AWS-2500 to maintain pouch production and meet water quality and microbial protection levels your research protocols require. Must provide a precise, simple and reliable method for in-line injection of additives and biological controls, and include ultra-filtration to allow removal of all microbes from facility water. Ultra-filtration must be provided via a 10-micron pre-filter, and three additional filters stepping down from 1.2-microns, to 0.2 microns, and finally to a 0.1 sub-micron ultra filter, Must include a water pressure regulator and flow rate controller to provide consistent water pressure. Pressure gauges must monitor water flow and must connect easily to facility water source. Must include a solenoid valve which ensures water shut-off in the event of a power disruption. All materials must meet FDA requirements for food and beverage applications Must include materials to produce 72,000 Hydropac Pouch and sterile Disposable Valve assemblies. Must include setup and assembly of Hydropac AWS-25000 and manifold unit in the animal research building. Scope of Work for installation Manufacturer will provide initial set-up of machine, including uncrating, moving it to the location in building 23 room 104, and attaching manifold to the water pouch unit. This location previously housed a Hydropac machine, and has adequate power, plumbing and drains. The animal care staff is familiar with operation and daily maintenance of this machine, however, the installation will also include training on the operation and trouble-shooting of the unit. The Installer will be accompanied by Veterinary Medical Unit staff at all times, when in the secured building. No computer access is required.
