- USAID/Power Africa is pleased to announce that the following Cost-Plus-Fixed-Fee (CPFF) Contract has been awarded: Contractor: RTI International (RTI) Activity Title: Empower East and Central Africa (EECA) Total Estimated Cost: $88,993,687 Period of Performance: Five Years - August 1, 2023 to July 31, 2028 Contract No.: 72067423C00003 COR/Alt. COR: William Madara/Eric Witte A&A Specialist: Lezanda Bruwer Purpose of Contract: � The purpose of this contract is to increase the availability of and access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and clean energy in East and Central Africa in order to reach measurable development outcomes.� Measurable development outcomes include economic growth, increased resilience, improving livelihoods, and increasing inclusive access to electricity-enabled services in such areas as agriculture, water provision, education, transportation and telecommunications.� The Empower East and Central Africa (EECA) activity will support the accelerated connection of more East and Central African homes, businesses, and institutions to reliable electricity and increase its productive use; reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the energy sector by supporting cleaner electricity generation and just energy transitions; and increase energy sector investment, working in partnership with East and Central African governments to improve the enabling environment for the energy sector.
