- INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE: Zeiss Lumera 700 Posterior to Proaim Medical THIS IS NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE FOR THE CARL ZEISS LUMERA 700 POSTERIOR FOR PURCHASE REQUISITION#: 523-23-3-7077-0130. This is not a request for competitive proposals. This is not a solicitation or request for offers. No solicitation package is available and telephone requests will not be honored. The Department of Veterans Affairs, VA Boston Healthcare System, Boston MA intends to award a Firm Fixed Price, Sole Source Contract for the Lumera 700 Posterior to the Small Business (SB) OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) Distributor Proaim Medical. The Lumera 700 Posterior is proprietary to Carl Zeiss Meditec USA, Inc. Proaim Medical has provided a Sole Source Letter indicating that they are the only company that is authorized to distribute this product. No other company has the rights or expertise to distribute the Zeiss Lumera 700 Posterior. The authority for applying the Simplified Procedures for Commercial Items of FAR 13.5 is 41 U.S.C. 1901. This statute is implemented by for restricting competition on this procurement via FAR 13.106-1(b)(2). The intent is to procure the services mentioned above on a sole source basis. No solicitation will be posted to Contract Opportunities. The primary North American Classification System Code (NAICS) is 334510: Electromedical and Electrotherapeutic Apparatus Manufacturing. The most current Business Size Rating for this NAICS is 1250 Employees. Capable parties may identify their interests and authorization to respond to this requirement by June 27th, 2023 at 10:00 AM (EST). A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed award upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Statement of Work Carl Zeiss Lumera 700 Microscope INTRODUCTION: The VA Boston Healthcare System Surgical Department, Ophthalmology, is in need of the Lumera 700 Microscope for the OR, 150 S. Huntington Ave Boston, MA 02130. This microscope is an operating microscope for ophthalmic surgery. We can use it for any ophthalmic surgery- cataract, glaucoma, retina. Currently, our retina surgeons have been trained and used the Zeiss microscope optics for more than the past 10 years. Zeiss is an industry leader in ophthalmic microscopes and ocular imaging. Our retina service is trained in operating with Zeiss microscopes due to their industry leading optics. For retina surgery in particular, crystal-clear optics are critical to see the very delicate structures and anatomy involved with repairing a retinal detachment or peeling an epiretinal membrane. This microscope is a standalone system not connected to the VA network. Vendor/Contractor will be on site for installation purposes and will be accompanied by the Clinical Engineering team. Contractor personnel will be escorted by Clinical Engineering staff for the duration of work performed and return to the same location to sign out and turn-in documented service report for the service performed The total price for this equipment includes manufacturer s warranty, shipping & handling (FOB Destination) and professional installation.
