- STATEMENT OF WORK (SOW) SCHEDULE OF SERVICES AND/OR SUPPLIES. CONTRACT TITLE. Biomek i7 Hybrid BACKGROUND. The Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center s (CRPCC) Biorepository is the designated the Cooperative Studies Program (CSP) Albuquerque Biorepository and supports the VA s Million Veteran Program (MVP) along with the CSP Boston Biorepository. As such, the CRPCC needs to be equipped to match the lead biorepository located in Boston to ensure all processes are identical for processing samples. SCOPE. This project requires the procurement of one (1) each Beckmann Coulter Biomek i7 Hybrid unit. In addition to the equipment, installation/training are required. STATEMENT OF NEED Item: This is to purchase a Biomek i7 Hybrid instrument (Product number B87585) with multichannel pods. B87585 is the main deck of the machines and also includes essential components B87589 , C02867, B87477, B87478, B87483, C02750, B87481, 3799448, B87475, B87689, 719366, B14088, A80559, C02613, C05753, C02616, C05009, 969127, 148639, 969127, 969129, B68982, C85888, C99761, C05041, B85329, B56613, B87510, B87509, B87508, C025853, C02782, B85955, B85911, B85888 that are necessary for complete operation. A full detailed list of all the components can be found schedule section of this document. The main function of the equipment is automated extraction/purification and quantitation of DNA. The Biomek i7 is a brand name instrument manufactured by Beckman Coulter Life Sciences. The Boston VA is already utilizing Biomek liquid handling devices in their lab and in order to maintain consistent research results a Biomek liquid handler is required. We need a second Biomek i7 on site due to high volume productivity, growing national research program, and continuity of research. Scope of Work: The Biomek i7 Multichannel Automated Liquid Handler (ALH), product number B87585 and accessories, is a robotic workstation designed for automated extraction of Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) from human blood. On addition of blood samples, the system will read a bar-coded identifier to identify the sample rack, run through a pre-programmed protocol for DNA isolation, utilize pre-determined volumes of DNA isolation reagents, and provide purified DNA as an output. A DNA isolation reagent kit is utilized for the chemistry of DNA isolation in conjunction with the ALH system. Unlike the Biomek FXP machine which the biorepository currently has, this system can extract up to four 96-well DNA plates at a time. This piece of equipment will be used in the large-scale genomic medicine project known as the Million Veteran Program (MVP) to facilitate the extraction of DNA from up to 1 million blood samples. SECURITY REQUIREMENTS. The C&A requirements do not apply and a Security Accreditation Package is not required. PLACE OF PERFORMANCE. Equipment to be shipped to/installed at: VA Cooperative Studies Program Clinical Research Pharmacy Coordinating Center 2401 Centre Avenue, SE ATTN: CSP Warehouse (151-I) Albuquerque, NM 87106-4180 PERIOD OF PERFORMACE. An award is expected to be congruent with the PALT schedule. Once PO is issued and the components are ordered and received, the vendor will be contacted for installation to occur within the following two weeks.
