- Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility has awarded a firm fixed price contract on a noncompetitive basis to�Instron, a Division of Illinois Tool Works Inc, to provide the following service: On-site assessment, calibration and maintenance services for all analytical and precision measurement equipment with the support necessary to certify equipment meets all relevant certification requirements and/or applicable regulatory guidance in support of services provided for PHNSY&IMF. The types of services required include: customer service and technical support; calibration, maintenance (routine and preventive) and certification of equipment. This action is undertaken in accordance with FAR 13.106 (b), soliciting from a single source, on the basis that Instron is the only known source capable of meeting the government�s requirements for calibration and maintenance. Instron has proprietary software and makes them the only company qualify to provide this service. These machines and instruments are highly specialized and the proprietary software were developed specially for operations on Instron original equipment manufacturer (OEM). The software can only be modified/adjusted by authorized Instron technicians who are specially trained in this application.
