Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nations leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency whose mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge. The mission of the NIH also includes enhancing health, lengthening life, reducing illness and disability, conducting, supporting, and making medical discoveries that improves and saves peoples health and lives. The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) Analytical Chemistry Core (ACC) requires an annual service and maintenance contract for a Bruker 400 MHz nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy instrument used by NCATS chemists. NMR spectroscopy is arguably the most powerful analytical tool a chemist has at their disposal for the identification and confirmation of organic molecules. Medicinal chemists at DPI use the NMR instruments daily to collect compound data, as well as conduct more advanced NMRexperiments overnight. Constant access to fully functioning NMR instruments is imperative to maintain productivity in the successful pursuit of the DPI mission. As such, routine maintenance is of highest priority to ensure the NMR instruments operate properly. Furthermore, periodic upgrades and component replacement are required to prolong the instrument lifetime. To help maintain and ensure the functionality of the Bruker Ascend 400 MHz NMR system with an Avance Neo Nanobay, we have a need for a Labscape Complete Maintenance Agreement from Bruker BioSpin Corporation. This agreement will include annual preventative maintenance of the Bruker 400 MHz NMR instrument and associated components to ensure proper system operability and longevity. In the event of a malfunction, this highly sophisticated and expensive instrument, as well as the associated components will require expert service. Therefore, it is of the utmost importance that the Bruker Ascend 400 MHz NMR system with an Avance Neo Nanobay and all associated components are protected by a Bruker Labscape Complete Maintenance Agreement. Without such an agreement in place, repair costs are extremely high and instrument downtime is much longer causing a significant decrease in scientific productivity
