Description
The Library of Congress [�Library�], in association with the Royal Collection Trust in Great Britain and the Science Museum, London, will open a landmark exhibition in March 2025 in the Library�s Thomas Jefferson Building that explores the lives and contributions of two globally significant figures of the late eighteenth century: King George III and George Washington. The Two Georges exhibition [�the exhibition�] is directed at a broad audience, which prior to the pandemic numbered 1.9M visitors a year. The exhibition will draw from the George Washington Papers and related collections at the Library of Congress; the newly available papers of King George III at the Royal Archives; and objects and artworks loaned from other important collections. Objects on display will include letters, diaries, account books, maps, scientific instruments, drawings, political cartoons, original paintings and prints, ceramics, ephemera, as well as audio visual and interactive components. A version of this exhibition, also comprising of original artifacts, will travel to London�s Science Museum and will open in 2026. The work to be performed under this contract shall include design and layout of the exhibition in the SW Curtain Gallery (approximately 3,600 square feet), utilizing a suite of new cases and display structures; and all related graphic design. Casework and wall components are not intended to travel to outside institutions. All design work under this contract must conform to museum quality design standards, conservation and security standards, and applicable accessibility standards. The design of the installation at the Science Museum is outside the scope of this contract, but all digital files of plans, graphics, and audiovisual components will be made available for their use. Offeror Questions are due July 28, 2023 by 12:00 PM EST.� Proposals are due by August 11, 2023 at 12:00 PM EST.
