The Government does not reimburse respondents for any costs associated with submission of the information being requested or reimburse expenses incurred for responses to this RFI. Any contract/order that might be awarded based on information received or derived from this market research will be the outcome of the competitive process. The purpose of this RFI is to obtain market information on capable sources of supply, industry best practices, and input specific to the information provided. The Government is not responsible for any cost incurred by industry in furnishing this information. All costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested vendor's expense. Not responding to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future Request for Proposal (RFP), if any is issued. Any information submitted by respondents to this RFI is strictly voluntary. All submissions will become Government property and will not be returned. Interested vendors are responsible for adequately marking proprietary, restricted or competition sensitive information contained in their response. Requirement: The purpose of this RFI is to identify qualified vendors, who are able to meet Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), SimLEARN National SimVET Center requires the procurement of an Beckton Dickson (BD) Pyxis MedStation ES-323 Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets (AMDC) as well as procurement of IBE HL7 interface servers to interface BD Pyxis MedStation ES-323 AMDC to the Oracle/Cerner Millennium Electronic Patient Record and HL7 Logical Link to the Veterans Health Information Systems and Technology Architecture (VISTA), where applicable, and to the Veterans Health Information Systems will address both the viability of this system to run on VA IT systems as well as the impacts on clinical workflow with the full utilization of this new technology. The SimVET Center is the ideal location for testing and validating this technology. This will affect all networked BD Pyxis MedStation ES-323 AMDCs at the SimLEARN National SimVET Center located in Orlando, Florida. Background: AMDCs with a narcotics drawer are widely used in acute care settings. The Becton Dickinson BD Pyxis MedStation ES-323 is an AMDC which is biomedical device integration (BMDI) capable and can automatically document any medications administered within a patient's electronic health record (EHR), record drug accountability data, and allow clinical personnel to focus on the patient not on a computer screen or keyboard. Automation of the medication dispensing cabinet process can substantially reduce medication errors, automatically track medication inventory, and prevent narcotic diversion. Acquiring this device will allow SimVET to assist VHA to become a fully digital environment and enable us to simulate state-of-the-art patient care workflows for systems testing, workflow optimization, and training. Automated medication dispensing cabinets have improved greatly over the past 10 years and are critical to the delivery of both inpatient and outpatient care. Most importantly, these cabinets are capable of biomedical device integration (BMDI) a process where a medical device automatically documents clinical data, such as vital signs or medications given, in the current state (VistA/CPRS) and desired state (Oracle/Cerner Millennium) simulated electronic health record (EHR). Thus, allowing healthcare personnel to focus on simulated clinical care not on looking at a screen or typing on a keyboard. Incorporating these automated medication dispensing cabinets into the simulated Emergency Department, simulated Operating Room, and simulated Intensive Care simulation areas will greatly increase the fidelity of our simulations and enable SimVET to provide realistic and meaningful simulations for systems testing, workflow optimization, or training. The SimLEARN National SimVET Center currently is running aged Pyxis devices its Orlando, Florida location. This version of the cabinets are outdated and is nearing end of life from the vendor. All of our networked Pyxis l automated medication dispensing cabinets need to be upgraded, if able, or replaced.
