Description

Notice of Intent to Sole Source (FDA-NOI-SS-118605) Date: August 3, 2023 Subject: Procurement of 360 Deg Combination SEAM Gauge The U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) intends to issue a Sole Source award to Industrial Physics Inc. for procurement of Equipment 360 Deg Combination SEAM Gauge. The Government intends to issue a sole source award in accordance with FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other will satisfy the agency requirements for the above stated equipment. The FDA program office currently owns system, known as the SEAMSCAN XTS-III, for the inspection of metal can double seams.� FDA would like to conduct further studies however, the SEAMSCAN XTS-III requires an add-on system that will enable it to measure the seam thickness and countersink depth, which are required by FDA as essential parameters to be measured and reported during inspection. The 360 Deg Combination SEAM Gauge is an add-on unit which will provide automated seam thickness and countersink depth measurements as well as a 360� seam scan around the can for fastest, easiest, reliable computerized inspection of food can double seams. 360 Deg Combination SEAM Gauge is the only 100% compatible add-on unit to SEAMSCAN XTS-III X-ray imaging system. Industrial Physics is the sole source manufacturer and provider for the Combination Seam Gauge and SEAMSCAN XTS-III X-ray imaging system. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No phone calls will be accepted.
