Description
This is a Request for Information/Sources Sought notice to solicit comments, questions and feedback from industry regarding a planned procurement of Reusable Metal Shipping and Storage Containers as identified below. The Naval Air Warfare Center � Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD) Lakehurst, NJ is requesting vendor sources with the capability of supplying said Containers.� Interested parties may submit technical literature/brochures on solutions that meet these material requirements. Any relevant information may also be submitted for consideration to aid in refinement of this requirement. THIS RFI IS NOT A REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL.� It is a market research tool being used to determine potential and eligible vendors capable of providing a Shipping and Storage Container described herein prior to determining the method of acquisition. The government is not obligated and will not pay for any information received from potential sources because of this notice. DESCRIPTION A metal (aluminum) shipping and storage reusable container is required for the Navy�s Helicopter Landing System, Rapid Securing Device (RSD) (Part Number 6532E900-19, NSN 1710-01-587-2657 ) per drawing number 427821, Revision C, dated 2/11/1998. The container shall be designed to package, ship, and store RSD Part numbers 6532E900-8 thru 0532E900-19 as defined on drawings 6532E900 and 622332.� The container shall also provide some flexibility to accommodate small changes to the external profile of the RSD for future design changes. The Shipping and Storage Container is required to safeguard the RSD from damage and potential contaminates during shipping, storage, and movements of the above-mentioned asset. The physical characteristics shall be: Overall length 8.5 feet nominal, Overall height 20 inches nominal, Overall width 6.333 feet nominal, Mounting surface plane parallel, contain NO windows, Constructed of Aluminum, and be rectangular.� The salient characteristics of the desired container will be aluminum with crevices sealed to prevent atmospheric liquids, the finish must be electrodeposited alkaline Zinc-Nickel Alloy, and include a nameplate for agency specific unique identification, All containers shall be glass bead blasted on exterior surfaces (only) to provide a uniform matte finish. The glass bead media shall be maintained free from contamination with other metals. All welds shall be in accordance with AWS D1.2 or MIL-W-22248, Class 4, for aluminum, all welds shall be cleaned of surface soils and sodium hydroxide shall NOT be used. Additionally, the containers require an acid deoxidizing treatment applied by either immersion or brushing/wiping; Sodium hydroxide solutions shall not be used. The purpose of this RFI is to identify potential contractors capable supplying the aboveequipment. It is requested that information be submitted no later than 20 August 2023 to Joshua Swindell, by electronic email at: joshua.d.swindell.civ@us.navy.mil. Respondents are notified that a formal solicitation MAY NOT necessarily result from the RFI.� Any comments provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. The Government WILL NOT PAY for any information received in response to this RFI nor will the Government compensate any respondent with costs incurred in developing the information provided to the Government. The Government will not release any information marked with a Proprietary legend, received in response to this RFI, to any firms, agencies, or individuals outside the Government without written permission in accordance with the legend. Any comments provided may or may not be included in a formal solicitation. Respondents may provide information and Rough Orders of Magnitude (ROM) on any currently available product or a company's' capabilities that will meet the Governments needs. Failure to respond to this RFI does not preclude participation in any future associated RFP/RFQ that may be issued. Information provided in no way binds the Navy to solicit or award a contract. If a solicitation is released, it will be synopsized on SAM website: www.sam.gov. It is the potential vendor's responsibility to monitor this site for the release.
