- STATEMENT OF WORK EPREDIA HM525 CRYOSTAT Brand name only 1. Description: The Martinsburg VAMC Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Service needs a cryostat for frozen section procedures. 2. Scope of Work: The requirement is for one (1) Epredia Microm HM525 NX Cryostat to be delivered and one (1) Cytospin. 3. Salient Characteristics: Epredia HM525 NX Cryostat is only manufactured by Epredia Delivers high-quality results comfortably and efficiently. A high-performance routine cryostat with intuitive software and touchscreen for simple, efficient operation. The HM525 NX cryostat offers reliability, advanced ergonomics and an intuitive interface. Features Touch screen interface with intuitive operator software Efficient high throughput cryochamber with 27 cooled specimen freeze stations. Spacious flat storage area Performance Reliable stepper motor technology delivers reproducible section thickness. Integrated Peltier cools four fast-freezing stations to -55 degree C to limit ice crystal formation within the specimen. Chamber brightness can be adjusted to meet operator needs. UV disinfection light for enhanced germicidal activity. Safety Automatic specimen retraction on return stroke protects specimen and reduces carry over artifacts. Mechanical handwheel lock completely immobilizes the specimen head. Stainless-steel chamber and smooth surfaces allow efficient cleaning of the chamber. Requirements for the Cryostat Must be FDA approved. Must fast-freeze specimens to -55 degrees while limiting ice crystal formation within the specimen. Automatic specimen retraction on return stroke to protect specimen and reduce carryover artifacts. Lock on mechanical handwheel to completely immobilize the specimen head.
