- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention intends to award a sole source firm fixed price purchase order to Luminex Corporation, to obtain MagPlex microspheres. MagPlex Microspheres are carboxylated polystyrene microparticles, or beads, thathave been dyed into spectrally distinct sets, or regions, allowing them to beindividually identified by an xMAP instrument. These uniquely coded beads providea user an addressable substrate on which to perform multiple bio-analytical reactionsin a single well. MagPlex Microspheres are magnetic, and with the use of a magneticseparator, they can be separated from solution quickly and easily. This improves percentrecovery during handling and wash steps and facilitates assay automation. Additionally, MagPlex Microspheres are available in 500 unique regions, enabling the developmentof assays which can measure up to 500 different analytes in the same well. These beadsare universally compatible with all xMAP instruments. MagPlexMicrospheres open the door to Luminexs MAGPIX instrument, which was designed as a simple and easy to use instrument with a smaller foot print. All microspheres are general use components for furthermanufacture of xMAP bioassays. MagPlexMicrospheres are available at a concentration of 2.5 million and 12.5 million beads/mL and can be ordered in 1 mL and 4 mL vial sizes. The MPIR Laboratory utilizes the Luminex MAGPIX instruments in several MATS and MEASURE projects. Standard Operating Procedures using these instruments along with the MagPlex microspheres have been created and approved according to CLIA and ISO regulations. For Quality Assurance and to follow Quality Management System guidelines, it is imperative that we procure the Luminex MagPlex microspheres. This contract action is for supplies or services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b) (SAP) and 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations/responses received within three (3) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotation/response should be emailed to contract specialist at Qrz9@cdc.gov by 9:00am 17 August, 2023.
