- This is a Request For Information - This synopsis is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. No contract will be awarded as a result of this Sources Sought announcement. The United States Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants is soliciting information from qualified sources; the results of this announcement will be evaluated to determine if there are businesses capable of performing the proposed work. The US Geological Survey (USGS), Office of Acquisition and Grants seeks responses from contractors capable of performing service for rock sample preparation and analysis for platinum-group element (PGE; Pt, Pd, Ru, Os, Ir, Rh) + Au by nickel sulfide fire assay. The USGS will provide approximately 200 surface or drill hole samples weighing at least 30 g in size. The contractor will use recognized geochemical methods in order to meet the required minimum detection limits, which is below 1 ppb for each element (all six PGE + Au). The contractor must also meet the required standards of quality to issue an assay certificate. NAICS 541380 Testing Laboratories and Services, $19.0 size standards in millions of dollars. Estimated period of performance: September 1, 2023 - August 31, 2024. All responsible sources may submit a capability statement, which shall be considered by the Government. The information received in response to this notice will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct a competitive procurement. Responses must include complete description of capabilities to be provided and contain sufficient technical information to allow agency analysis to establish bona fide capabilities. Should there be a competitive procurement in the future, all vendors must be actively registered in System for Award Management (SAM) at www.SAM.gov in order to be eligible for consideration. As such, please include your unique entity identification (UEI) number in SAM in your response, if applicable. There is no fee for registration in SAM. This is not a request for quotation, and the Government does not intend to pay for information received. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the Government. Respondents will not be notified of the results of any Government evaluation of the information received. Capability statements shall only be accepted through email addressed to jongjoco@usgs.gov. All statement documents required by this notice must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than August 28, 2023 at 1230 hours, Eastern.
