- Description
- Background Information: Wearable physiological health monitors (wearables) for general wellness and human performance can be inadvertently biased to the relatively low variability from week to week in male physiology during sleep. This is not to claim bias hidden within the devices or algorithm(s) but rather, research and wearable applications have not fully considered the high variability of female physiology measures across the four phases of the menstrual cycle. Wearables rely on averages of biometric parameters. This lacks critical contexts for females to identify trend range changes within a phase and, as a result, can communicate a blunted and skewed response to sleep data in optimizing changes in physical exercise, diet, and cognitive and emotional tasks. Opportunity Description: MSTS possesses the intellectual property and specialized core competencies to investigate phase-specific trend range analysis and is seeking partners for research and algorithm development. Partners are sought to collaborate via Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA). MSTS is available to collaborate with non-federal entities (NFEs) including Business, Industry and Non-Profits, Universities, and Government Agencies to leverage a broad spectrum of talent and capabilities. Interested parties should contact MSTS Technology Partnerships and Intellectual Property Office via email with the subject line: Phase-Specific Trend Range Analysis.
