- Description
- THIS IS A NOTICE OF INTENT TO AWARD A SOLE SOURCE ORDER AND NOT A REQUEST FOR QUOTATIONS. This contract action is for the acquisition of Services for which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-l(b). The National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), Office of Acquisitions (OA) intends to award a single source purchase order to Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC, One North Broadway White Plains, NY 10601-2310, for the acquisition of a Axio Zoom V.16 Microscope. Laboratory of Developmental Neurobiology is interested in procuring a fluorescent stereoscopic microscope to allow dissection of brain tissues expressing fluorophores to demarcate the specific brain area to be dissected out for further analysis. NIEHS currently use an epifluorescent microscope in the lab for imaging brain slices but this microscope cannot be used for tissue dissection because it is an inverted microscope and the working distance between the objective and the specimen is approximately 0.5 mm, prohibiting manipulation/dissection of tissues. Other investigators in Laboratory of Developmental Neurobiology will be making use of the stereoscopic microscope for their needs as well, so it will function as a shared resource. The specification of this microscope specifically runs on the Zen software, which is proprietary to Zeiss as well as the image acquisition software. Item # Qty Description 1 1 Axio Zoom V.16 Microscope 2 1 2 Objectives - 1x and 1.5x 3 1 Binocular with Stereoscopic View 4 1 Motorized Focus and Transmitted Base 5 1 Fluorescence - DAPI, 488, and 568 6 1 Monochrome Camera 7 1 Acquisition Workstation 8 1 ZEN 3.8 Software The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 333314 Optical Instrument and Lens Manufacturing"" and a size standard of 500 employees.
