- The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), intends to award a single or multiple award for a 5-year IDIQ for a contractor(s) to perform work to reduce vegetation-based fuel and apply fire abatement strategies surrounding specified sites in Oregon, California, and Washington as described in the attached documents: (a) Appendix1_maps080423 (b) Appendix2_Wildfire_Landscape_sites_allnets0802423 (c) Appendix3_SiteEval_example080423.dc (d) Appendix4_Vegitation_equip_exampl080423 This requirement is set aside for small businesses. Award will be made in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) procedures at FAR Part 12 entitled, Acquisition of Commercial Items and FAR Part 13 entitled, Simplified Acquisition Procedures, Subpart 13.5 entitled, Simplified Procedures for Certain Commercial Items. The purpose of this notice is to satisfy the requirements of FAR Subpart 5.2. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. However, all responsible parties may submit a capability statement by the closing date of this announcement which shall be considered by the agency. An official Request for Proposals will be issued at a later date. The NAICS code for this action is 562910 Remediation Services with the associated standard size of $25 million. Responses or inquiries shall only be accepted through electronic mail addressed to thuot@usgs.gov and must be uploaded and received in their entirety no later than 10/16/2023 1700 PD. Responses submitted by hardcopy or the SAM.gov portal shall not be accepted or considered. Summary of Work: Task 1: Site Reconnaissance and Evaluation- the contractor will visit each monitoring station on the provided list and produce a fire suppression measures report Task 2: Perform vegetation removal from USGS provided list or Site Evaluation- The USGS will provide a list of predetermined monitoring stations which require fire abatement services. A typical station will require vegetation removal around a 30- foot radius from each equipment vault and may include branches hanging into the 30-foot radius. Task 3: Vegetation Removal as Task 2 with Additional Prevention Measures- A fabric weed barrier overlain by gravel will be installed surrounding instrument enclosures and telemetry infrastructure according to specification provided. Task 3 should be performed on the same visit as the vegetation removal to reduce travel costs.
