- RFI #1 Responses for 528A7-23-181 Abate 3rd Floor C-Wing Will abatement activities be allowed to be performed during normal hours? This project is intended to be completed during official business hours 8am-4pm. The contractor can request longer working hours, to be approved by the COR. The contractor can request longer working hours, to be approved by the COR. 1st floor DRAWING HA-102- States remove any asbestos containing water proofing membrane under floor tile settling bed. There is no water proofing membrane, that note will be removed from the plans. See attached. Who will be responsible for determining if there is an asbestos containing membrane under the Settling bed? Not Applicable, the note on the membrane will be removed from the plans. See attached. Will settling bed/concrete need to be removed to determine whether or not there is a membrane? Not Applicable, the note on the membrane will be removed from the plans. See attached. 3rd floor What is to be done with metal cabinetry after the removal of the asbestos containing lab tops? The VA Maintenance and Operations Shop workers will demo the metal cabinetry and dispose of it appropriately. The pipe chase to the left of the stairs has an electrical sub-panel attached to it. Will need to remove wall to create access to the piping for the removal of asbestos containing insulation. How will this be possible? Due to the difficulty in removing the large electrical panel to abate, we are removing the 2EX STEAM PIPES on drawing HA-101 from the plans. See attached. Statement of Work_ REVISION #3 Project Name: Asbestos Abatement 3rd Floor C Wing Project No: 528A7-23-181 Project Address: 800 Irving Ave Syracuse, NY 13210 Building 1 Overview: The Syracuse VA Medical Center located at 800 Irving Ave Syracuse, NY 13210 has a need to renovate the existing C wing, 3RD Floor of Building 1 in C301, C301A Mechanical Room and C303 (noted hereinafter as 3C). The 3C wing was previously a laboratory and will be vacated prior to the start of the construction phase. Additional asbestos containing material abatement is also needed in A145, A146 and A147. Scope of Work: This project involves the laboratory area in C301, C301A Mechanical Room, C303, A145, A146 and A147 and will include Abatement of all known and unforeseen asbestos containing materials, including any remaining asbestos insulation in the horizontal pipe in the ceiling and vertical pipe in the wall chases, as well as removal and disposal of any PCBs and other hazardous materials. Remove suspected asbestos floor tile mastic (approximately 790 gsf), asbestos countertops (approximately 175 sf), exhaust hood and thermal piping insulation (approximately 186 LF). Do not remove any fire protecting system components or piping. This contract will be coordinated concurrently with the 528A7-23-181 Air Monitoring 3rd Floor C Wing contract. The Contractor shall refer to all contract documents including drawings and specifications for a complete detailed description of work and all requirements to be performed. Furthermore, it is the contractor s responsibility to provide all required supervision, labor, materials, and equipment necessary to complete the work. Contractor is required to follow all infection control requirements, interim life safety measures, safety/security procedures and all other VA requirements. CLIN 0001 Abatement of all known and unforeseen asbestos containing materials, as well as removal and disposal of any PCBs and other hazardous materials, suspected in the floor tile mastic (approximately 790 gsf), countertops (approximately 175 sf), exhaust hood and thermal piping insulation (approximately 186 LF). Work Hours: Normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 8am 4pm) as well as after normal business hours and weekends will be required to minimize impact to patient care and facility operations. All domestic water, electrical, steam, chilled and heating hot water shutdowns, as required, shall be coordinated one week in advance with the COR and scheduled for completion after normal business hours. Period of Performance: The duration of this project is 60 days for submittals and 30 days for asbestos abatement for a total period of performance of 90 days. The Contractor is to submit a detailed construction schedule to the CO and COR for review and approval two weeks upon receipt of Notice to Proceed. In addition, the contractor is to provide contact information for all individuals who will be working on-site 7 days before starting the work.
