Description

The Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) awarded a sole source firm fixed price type BOA order toDRS Systems, Inc. Melbourne, FL for the Deployable Flight Incident Recorder System (DFIRS) Mid-Life Upgrade (MUP), a.k.a. Voice and Aircraft Data Recorder (VADR) for the F/A-18E/F and EA-18G Type/Model/Series (T/M/S) aircraft to support United States Navy (USN), Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and Kuwait requirements. The BOA order is for the procurement of a Life of Type Buy for 530 (484 for USN, 40 for RAAF and 6 for Kuwait) DFIRS MUP Memory Modules to support the production of DFIRS MUP B-Kits. This effort was awarded on a sole source basis to DRS Systems, Inc. in accordance with FAR 6.302-1 because DRS is the sole designer, developer, and manufacturer of the equipment addressed in this synopsis and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements.� In addition, the Government does not own a technical data package (TDP) for the DFIRS which is suitable for competition. �Drawings and data are proprietary to DRS.��
