- Description
- The Deep Creek channel in Newport News is a shallow draft navigation project that supports commercial and recreational activity. The project consists of an entrance channel authorized to 8 feet deep and 100 feet wide, extending from the James River for approximately 9,000 feet to the harbor. The harbor is authorized to a depth of 8 feet, a width that ranges from 400 feet to 740 feet and 1,940 feet in length to a point near Parkers Landing. A harbor upstream of the primary harbor consists of a depth of 6 feet, 300 feet in width and 600 feet in length. All depths are in reference to mean low water.
