- Description
- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), National Urban Security Technology Laboratory (NUSTL) is seeking information on commercially available non-detonable training aids for canine detection of explosive materials to meet the needs of law enforcement. NUSTL and specifically seeking information on explosive detection canine training aids (TAs) that are designed to be non-detonable.�The following TAs are of interest to NUSTL: TA must possess no or minimal hazards for transportation and waste handling TA must accurately emulate the scent profile of actual explosives TA must be completely safe for both canines and handlers, with no risk of accidental detonation or harm TA must provide consistent scent characteristics over time TA must have a minimum shelf life of at least 3 months TA design must facilitate easy handling, storage, and distribution by trainers/handlers during training exercises TA must be able to be utilized in diverse training scenarios, including both indoor and outdoor environments TA should have a minimum working time of 8 hours or more TA should be a commercially available product for purchase to law enforcement agencies� canine units
