- NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE. This is not a request for competitive proposals/quotes. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), hereby announces its intent to issue a sole source order/contract to Rigaku Americas Corporation. The NAICS code for this acquisition is 334516 - Analytical Laboratory Instrument Manufacturing, with a size standard maximum 1,000 Employees. The Health Hazards Prevention Branch (HHPB), part of the NIOSH Pittsburgh Mining Research Division (PMRD), requests to purchase a maintenance contract for the Rigaku X-ray diffractometer (XRD). The XRD is an experimental, analytical instrument used to perform research into the chemical, physical, and structural characteristics of minerals. The XRD instrument requires routine maintenance and repairs (if needed) performed by Rigaku technicians in order to remain operational and maintain high quality research. The tasks to be performed include the following: Task 1: Provides on-site periodic maintenance of Rigaku SmartLab XRD instrument performed by Rigaku technician. Provide one (1) Preventive Maintenance service visit per year per contract period and emergency service visits as deemed necessary by Rigaku Service Personnel Replacement and/or repair to all non-consumable parts required to replace defective parts that failed under normal operating conditions. Trouble-shooting support and repair to Haskris chiller systems. Checking and maintenance of Rigaku SmartLab XRD instrument attachments. Task 2: Provides one (1) anode rebuild (includes rebuild kit, Cu anode cup, balancing, labor and shipping {one way}) per generator to be used during the contract period Task 3: Provides technical phone support Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. CST. Remote support is included to assist customers in performing simple tasks (i.e. simple alignments, diagnose system faults and troubleshoot software programs). A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action will be based on responses to this notice and is solely in the discretion of the Contracting Officer. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. All vendors must be registered in the System for Award Management (SAM) at www.sam.gov. This action is for services which the Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-l(b) and 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(l). Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotations. This is not a request for Quotations; however, the Government will review any/all product, capabilities, and pricing information submitted prior to the closure of this notice. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
